Surahs Covered in Para 12 of the Holy Quran

  1. Surah No. 11 – Hud: Verses 6–123.
  2. Surah No. 12 – Yusuf: Verses 1–52.

The Main Themes and Topics Covered in This Juzz/Para of the Holy Quran

Para 12, known as Wa Ma Min Dabbah, begins by affirming Allah’s knowledge of every living creature and His provision for it. It reminds people that creation and human life have a purpose, and that prosperity and hardship both reveal the condition of the heart.

Surah Hud recounts the experiences of earlier prophets in greater detail. Nuh builds the ark while facing ridicule, and the flood separates the believers from those who reject his warning.

The fate of his son shows that family connections cannot take the place of faith. The accounts of Hud and Salih warn against pride, defiance, and mistreatment of Allah’s signs.

The visit of the angels to Ibrahim brings glad tidings, followed by the account of Lut and the punishment of his people. Shu’ayb’s call focuses on worshipping Allah and abandoning dishonest commercial practices.

His people are instructed to give full measure and weight and stop spreading corruption. Musa and Pharaoh are also recalled as examples of guidance opposed by arrogant power.

The surah explains that these accounts strengthen the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and serve as reminders for believers. Its closing instructions call for steadfastness, prayer, patience, and avoiding support for wrongdoing.

Surah Yusuf begins with Yusuf’s childhood dream and the jealousy of his brothers. They separate him from his father and abandon him in a well.

He is later taken to Egypt, where another series of trials unfolds. Yusuf (peace be upon him) resists an invitation to sin and chooses imprisonment rather than disobedience.

In prison, he explains dreams and calls his companions to worship Allah alone. The king’s dream leads to Yusuf’s explanation of coming years of abundance and famine.

Before leaving prison, he asks for the accusation against him to be investigated. The para closes with his innocence being established, highlighting chastity, patience, and trust.

Selected tafsir references (Ma’ariful Qur’an): 11:25; 11:84; 12:4; 12:33.
