The Main Themes and Topics Covered in This Juzz/Para of the Holy Quran

Para 20, known as Amman Khalaq, opens with questions that direct attention to Allah’s creative power. Who sends rain, brings forth gardens, makes the earth habitable, answers the distressed, and guides people through darkness?

The helplessness of false gods stands against these clear signs. The closing passages of Surah An-Naml affirm resurrection and Allah’s knowledge of the unseen.

They describe the gathering for judgment and remind the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that his duty is to worship Allah and recite the Quran. Surah Al-Qasas gives an extended account of Musa’s early life.

Pharaoh oppresses Bani Israel, yet Allah protects Musa as an infant and returns him to his mother. The child threatened by Pharaoh’s policy is raised within his household.

As a young man, Musa leaves Egypt after unintentionally causing a man’s death. In Madyan, he helps two women water their animals and finds safety, work, and marriage.

These events show Allah’s care through circumstances that initially appear frightening and uncertain. Musa later receives his prophetic mission and returns to confront Pharaoh.

Pharaoh’s arrogance and rejection end in destruction. The narrative reassures the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that revelation comes from Allah and that guidance cannot be forced upon those one loves.

The account of Qarun warns against pride in wealth. He attributes his possessions to his own knowledge and rejects wise counsel.

When his wealth and home are swallowed by the earth, those who envied him recognise their error. Surah Al-Ankabut begins by explaining that claims of faith are tested.

Believers must honour parents without obeying them in shirk, and each person remains accountable for personal choices. Accounts of earlier prophets and their opponents reinforce this message.

The spider’s fragile home illustrates the weakness of protectors taken besides Allah. The para calls for steadfast faith, humility, and trust in divine help during trials.

Selected tafsir references (Ma’ariful Qur’an): 27:60; 28:7; 28:76; 29:1.
