The Main Themes and Topics Covered in This Juzz/Para of the Holy Quran

Para 6, known as La Yuhibbullah, begins with guidance on speech, injustice, and forgiveness. Allah does not approve of openly speaking evil, although a person who has suffered wrong may voice a grievance.

Believers are encouraged to pardon others and remember Allah’s mercy. The closing passages of Surah An-Nisa affirm belief in all of Allah’s messengers.

They address errors among the People of the Book and explain the true position of Isa (peace be upon him) as Allah’s messenger. Exaggeration in religion and claims of divinity are rejected.

The surah ends with a ruling concerning inheritance in a particular family situation. Surah Al-Ma’idah opens by commanding believers to fulfil their obligations.

It discusses lawful and unlawful food, hunting restrictions during ihram, and respect for the sacred rites. Muslims are told to cooperate in righteousness and avoid helping one another in sin or aggression.

The para explains wudu, the full ritual bath, and tayammum. These instructions connect physical purification with readiness for worship.

It also insists that hatred of others must never lead believers to abandon justice. Accounts from Bani Israel illustrate the consequences of breaking covenants and refusing divine commands.

Musa’s people are reminded of Allah’s favours, yet their refusal to enter the Holy Land shows the weakness of faith unsupported by obedience. The story of Adam’s two sons warns against envy and murder.

The sanctity of human life is strongly emphasised, followed by legal passages concerning violent wrongdoing and theft. These are presented as serious matters of public justice, not personal revenge.

The remaining verses discuss judging according to revelation, religious loyalty, and the responsibility of scholars to prevent wrongdoing. They challenge false beliefs about Allah and Isa, while recognising differences among the People of the Book.

Throughout, the para calls for truthful belief, fulfilled commitments, restraint, and impartial justice.

Selected tafsir references (Ma’ariful Qur’an): 4:171; 5:1; 5:6; 5:27.
